巴西同居伴侣罗拉与伊塞尔育有一子，两人都感觉关系到了瓶颈。罗拉似乎嗅到此后会有更大的危机，一日突然无声无息地消失；不久后，伊塞尔得知她已死在阿根廷，他没向任何人诉说此事，包括他们的儿子。偏偏两人既没婚姻之实，也无积蓄照应，要将遗体带回巴西简直难如登天，而他至今依然对罗拉离去的原因和途中经历一无所知…… 以光影及对白写诗，以剪接制造音律，将虚实交错的日常琐事相映成趣。人物常被锁在框中动弹不得，或是如部分形体被切出框外的巴洛克画作，匮乏而不完整；几场关键戏的省略留白，更可见其匠心独具。导演除了探讨存在主义式的生死问题，也让片中女性间的侃侃而谈，对比无话可说的伴侣，佐以拉丁美洲边界的魔幻写实冒险，刻画人际关系及现代人的徬徨与焦虑。
