约翰尼是尼克先生连锁酒店的经理，因为经济危机他的酒店破产了，约翰尼也失去了工作。他和妻子住在克里特岛上，他是一个移民。他们还有两个儿子和一个女儿，巨大的经济压力让约翰尼显得很疲惫。他沉迷于网络赌博，在妻子的规劝下，约翰尼决定开始新的生活。他试着找了许多工作，但是由于年龄等问题，他都没有找到合适的工作。最后在海边，他误打误撞赢了安德里亚船长，从而获得了跟船长捕鱼一天，并且所有鱼都归他的大奖。这次出海让约翰尼有了不同的想法，他放下了自己的架子，脱掉了自己的西装。来到农田帮助农夫采摘葡萄，他认真的劳作得到了大家的认可，他的妻子为大家做了丰盛的午餐。他的大儿子和女儿都因为选择专业而苦恼，因为经济压力年轻人对生活失去了方向。约翰尼建议他们回归田园，选择农业专业。他自己也身体力行，在岛上观察原始的自然环境，学习酿酒，了解历史。最终他选择放弃继续寻找酒店的工作，他将自己的重心转移到了土地上。决定和农夫合作发展农业和旅游业，在几个农夫的带领下，他找到了生活的方向。傍晚在传统的希腊歌曲下，大家欢聚在一起，他才明白什么样的生活才是自己想要的，他和妻子相拥在一起。他下决心将克里特岛的农业推向全世界。
